Christmas Eve 2011, I was in the village of Lavenden, photographing the renewel of vows for Keith and Charlotte Mitchell.

I had only met Charlotte about a week prior and had only spoken and emailed Keith, but I knew from the story Keith ahd told me , how important the day was for them both.

Keith and Charlotte were married 10 years ago on Christmas Eve so as well as a renewel of vows it was also the time to celebrate 10 wonderful years of marriage. I feel so blessed to have been chosen to be their photography on such a special day. What a beautiful day to get married as well!

The weather stayed dried with some cloud cover, perfect for me, but it was a tad nippy!

Keith and Charlotte didnt have a wedding photographer when they got married, I do hope that I captured their day with memories they will cherish and remember.

January has been an amazing month already for me and I am so looking forward to what the rest of 2012 has in store for me.

This last month has seen me working Christmas Eve for a couples renewel of vows (blogging real soon!), working for my fav photography magazine on a styled shoot and working with an amazing up and coming model from Huntingdon, Amber Tutton. I feel so blessed and priveledged to have worked with such talented people of late.

Today I thought I would share some behind the scenes shots of my styled shoot the other week. I organized a Ice Queen vs Black Swan shoot ,complete with models, MUA and hairstylists. it was an amazing day, the weather was good to us if not a little cold! But then what do you expect at the beginning of January!

The creative team all met at mine where we started to prep the models for our first scene.

Cambridge January 2012 | Street Photography

This year I wanted to do some personal photography projects. Not your normal 365's or 52 week projects, been there have the TShirt and suck at them, LOL. This year I want to work outside my comfort zone and be more creative.

This means working on more collaborations, meeting like minded creatives, themed shoots organized by myself and some street photography!

Last week I headed into Cambridge to do some prop shopping for my Ice Queen shoot I had Monday just gone. I took my camera with me and my new lens Peter bought me for Christmas, the 85mm. After shopping till I could no longer carry any more bags, I headed to the nearest bench and pulled my camera out.

This is how I got on...

I have lots to improve on, I need to be more confident taking photos for a start!

There are some amazing street photographers out there, Vivien Maier is someones work worth googling, and just google "street photography" and click on images only. Inspiring work out there!

Marshal Gray (Gary Lashmar), did a 365 street photography project last year (2011) , and I loved his work.
I have decided I like black and white for this project, it also seems a popular choice for street photographers. I am in Peterborough tomorrow on a shoot but will hopefully catch a few street photos whilst I am there. On Friday I am headed to London to meet some fellow togs at SWPP, another great opportuntiy to get out the camera!

Will take a tripod out next time and go for some motion blur shots I think.

Welcome 2012 | Cambridgeshire Lifestyle Photographer

Wow, already a week in to 2012 and I havnt blogged yet! Its been a busy week already and the next few months calender is looking pretty bust so far! I am excited to see what 2012 brings and meeting new clients, building new friendships and expanding my creativity.

Tomorrow is the first day of what will hoopefully be my new creative team: MUA (make up artist), hairstylist and 2 models will be joining me on an exciting styled shoot at Hitchingbrooke Park.

I cant give too much away as it is for a magazine, but if you follow me on Face Book you will know  the theme, and here is a sneak peek of what tomorrow will bring...

I am styling tomorrow's shoot which has been way too much fun, LOL, with bling, fur and feathers adorning my studio and some gorgeous Doris Design skirts, I am sure the models will rock this shoot.

Hopefully will catch up with you all in the week, with some session shares.

Merry Christmas

Wow, its been an amazing 8 months in business, and I am so thankful to all my amazing clients, the wonderful people I have met this year. I cannot wait for what 2012 holds for me and Anna Bowkis Photography.

I will be spending the next week with my family capturing our holiday memories, I urge you to grab your camera too and capture those precious memories also. Don't worry about the perfcet exposure and composition, just snap those smiles.

Mr Movember

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in the UK and around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

October 2011 National Competition Winner | Cambridgeshire Lifetsyle Photographer

 It feels like Winter here in Cambridge today and we woke to frost sprinkled all over the fields. I also woke to the results of the October Competition at The Guild of Photographers.  Once again the standard was very high and no Gold bars were given this month. I am pleased to have been awarded a Strong Silver, just missing Gold, and a Bronze.

A reminder of the Judging:

• Platinum Bar – World Class / Awesome (one has yet to be awarded!)
• Gold Bar – Truly Exceptional (so very rare)
• Silver Bar – Very High Standard (very difficult to achieve)
• Bronze Bar – High Standard (above the norm)
• Commended – Good Professional Standard (a competent image)
• Unclassified – Images that are not of national competition standards
