Its that time of year again, Christmas. I love Christmas , and everything about it, from the smells of cinnamon wafting through the house, to the twinkling lights on the tree, there's nothing quite like it.

Your Life is Your Art

Garden Tea Party Themed Mini Session | Cambridgeshire lifestyle photographer

Last month I had lots of fun putting together a Garden Tea Party for 2 little girls for a photo shoot. With the help of The Posy Palace in Stevenage and Cakes2Party4 I had beautiful flowers and scrumptious cupcakes to add the finishing touches to my setting.

All we needed now was the great British weather to stay dry! As I waited for Melanie and the girls to arrive I could see a very ominous black cloud approaching.

The girls and Melanie arrived, and after 10 minutes of shoot the heavens opened, gusts of wind arrived from nowhere and thunder and lightening clapped up above!

But in true British spirit we waited, we ate cupcakes and after the set blew away, we set up again and started a fresh!

 

And we had lots of fun in the end, you would never know how wet and muddy it really was, LOL.

Your Life is Your Art

This makes me smile | Cambridgeshire Portrait Photographer

Just had to pop by and make a quick post. The girls and I had a day out with some of the mums form our village. All our kids are the same ages and go to the same school. We packed bats and balls, picnic rugs, drinks and picnics and made our way to Riverside Park.

The kids all got on so well, and I off course had my camera with me!

and this photo above, just cracks me up!

 

After all the riots and awful stories I am hearing on the news these past few days, its so nice to enjoy a day out like the good olde days, and capture it with a photo; makes me smile

Julie | Cambridgeshire childrens portrait photograher

Today was one of those perfect days! Peter's very good friends were done from Cheshire and friends from London had come up to Cambridgeshire to meet up. Its been a bout 6 years we reckon since we have all been together, and we are all mums and dads now as well.

Last time we had seen Gary, Susan and the girls , Julie was only a baby. She turned 2 in April, and what a beautiful girl she is....

Vintage Childrens Shoot | Cambridgeshire childrens lifestyle photographer

I love it when a shoot comes together. I had an idea I wanted to play with and a new location to try out, as well as a new dress I wanted Izzy to wear, LOL. I still have lots more in my head I want to try out with this vintage idea. I say vintage as I think of the editing to bring a timeless appeal to the photos, and I am using vintage props. I see these photos as photo art, waiting to be placed on a empty wall...

I used a texture on this photo. I love the story this photo is telling to me.

Where is the girl going, who is she waiting for? I am going to get this printed on a large canvas for the (to be) decorated hallway, I just adore how this turned out.

I picked this feathered head piece up from a fancy dress shop that is closing down for only a few pounds!

I have some lovely props waiting to be used; a large brass birdcage, a 1940's camera, soda pop bottles, and suitcases as well as a singer sewing machine and a cute petite typewriter!

So who fancies coming out to play, we can mix in some fabric bunting as well!

Cool stuff to share

I thought today it would be cool to share some fab photography related stuff thats going on now and in the future.

Firstly, I am really excited to be going to a workshop by Melissa Love, Chelsea Lavere and Meghan Beckwith; a Jane Austin inspired day of shooting in West Sussex. Check out the details here, beautiful!

I do believe she sold out within hours of announcing the workshop today, but do check the site out in case i am wrong!

Second spending today was for tickets to see the Vivian Maier Exhibition at the  London Street Photography Festival during July. This woman is an inspiration. She was a nanny in New Work and Chicago and in her spare time took to the streets taking photographs in the fifties.

A few years ago John Maloof bought a job lot of boxes at auction and discovered 1000,000 negatives of Vivian Maier. When he eventually tracked her down( he found her name written in pencil on an envelope) she had passed away only a few days before. The best part is John has spent the last few years painstakingly working on the negatives so that "we" can see her beautiful street photography today.

I did miss out on purchasing tickets to see John do a talk on July 1st guttered but at least I will be able to attend her exhibition.

Kimono's and Blossom Trees | Cambridgeshire Lifestyle Photographer

Don't you just love this time of year, blossom trees, spring flowers and wild flowers carpeting our countryside. You just have to get your camera out and start clickin!

Last year when we were in Florida, I bought Kimono's for the girls, and I have been dying to get Izzy dressed up and out for a mini shoot.

Just had to share this photo of Izzy I took last week. Love how natural she looks. Taken when she got back from school.
